Product Vision: Serial infrastructure. Digitally conceived. Effective at the municipal level.
LOOPED is transforming municipal infrastructure construction through serial construction methods. Our vision: to no longer consider construction projects in isolation, but rather as part of scalable, data-driven systems within a procurement consortium of municipal authorities.
LOOPED is part of the Hamburg-Takt strategic construction programme aimed at strengthening public transport in our metropolitan region. Alongside the major projects of the S4 suburban railway line and the U5 underground line, the programme also encompasses the expansion of bus routes and stops. LOOPED is testing ways to increase the proportion of accessible bus stops in the existing network through digitally integrated procurement processes based on standardised product catalogues using serial construction methods.
Notwithstanding its pilot nature, LOOPED aims to open up the product vision of a procurement consortium for serial construction to municipal authorities and to make components of the methodology accessible through a joint venture between our IT and construction partners. LOOPED is intended to serve as the starting point for establishing a strategic alliance for the consolidation of municipal infrastructure construction.
Our 5D Alliance. Modelling and simulation at the heart of the project partnership.
Our intelligent 3D model, in conjunction with costs and time (5D), serves as a shared data repository within the collaborative working group comprising all project partners.
The 5D Alliance combines technological and organisational development: agile product development based on open source benefits from the innovative power of collaborative contract models. In this way, we aim to unite all project partners behind the vision of transforming municipal infrastructure construction.
We demonstrate that the methodology of serial construction leads to structural savings in process and procurement costs for our municipal authorities.

A collaborative toolkit that connects all project stakeholders
At the core of our development lies the integration of construction-related design principles – Building Information Modelling (BIM), Integrated Project Management (IPA) and Lean Construction Management (LCM) – into the 5D Alliance working methodology.

The availability of property and location-specific information remains tied to numerous isolated IT systems and databases. LOOPED will use machine-based methods to improve the transparency and structure of available data.

BIM MODEL BUS STOP
Intelligent building models in standardised design variants
Our design models for the BIM model bus stop combine object and location-specific information into a single dataset, enabling all use cases for serial construction to be supported from a single information source.

BAUVISION+
Analysis of variants using virtual and augmented reality
To enable the systematic assessment of potential sites against requirements and needs, our BauVision+ development allows specialist engineers to experience the BIM model bus stop across different design variants in a virtual environment.

BIM2AVA
Integrated procurement based on a synchronised object and standard service catalogue
LOOPED translates individual construction requirements into standardised construction services: sorted by trade, bundled into requirement clusters, procured and created in series.
Initialisation of automated procurement processes using property information
• Alignment of property sets from IFC or GAEB-based data formats
• Synchronisation of procurement processes in the tender and ERP systems
• Property attributes: cost + time in the interface network with the CAFM system
CONSTRUCTION DESIGN LOOP
Structural construction sequence and traffic models in an iterative optimisation process
LOOPED focuses on boosting productivity through the automation of structural engineering review processes. To achieve this, we integrate the specialist disciplines of the BIM model into a lean production pipeline to ensure a smooth workflow.
